WinMX
Pro FAQ
There are 3
possible reasons why WinMX Pro cannot establish a connection to the network.
Your computer
is not connected to the Internet
If you can send and receive email and browse the Internet, you are connected
to the Internet. If not, you will need to establish an Internet connection
by following the instructions provided by your Internet Service Provider
(ISP).
WinMX Pro is
denied access to the Internet by a firewall
If you are using a software firewall such as ZoneAlarm, McAfee Desktop
Firewall, or Norton Personal Firewall, you will be prompted to allow or
deny WinMX Pro access to the Internet. This may happen several times because
WinMX Pro needs to establish a number of outgoing and incoming connections.
You will need
to accept all requests by WinMX Pro to access the Internet.
If you denied
WinMX Pro access to the Internet by mistake, you can reset the permission
rules in the control panel of your firewall.
You are running
Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) without the necessary patches
There are 2 patches available to improve P2P connectivity on systems running
Windows XP SP2.
The first patch
is from Microsoft and can be downloaded here.
The second patch
is a third party patch to increase the number of available TCP connections.
